The HS pressure booster pump is a 2 HP 230 Volt pump ideal for a sprinkler system because it will take your incoming water pressure and boost it to your desired level for proper sprinkling, and give you a constant pressure for the sprinkler system heads. If your system needs 20 psi pressure boost at the end of the line for your desired pressure, this pump will produce 32 gallons per minute. Because of the Hydrascan valve control, this system will turn on the pump as soon as a head pops up, and has protection against running dry due to insufficient water availability.

The Hydrascan valve is the brains behind this pump. The problem of cycling is eliminated with the hydrascan valve. The hydrascan operates on the basis of sensing pressure to switch the pump on, using a built in diaphragm type pressure switch. The hydrascan senses the flow of water through the pump valve, and will operate down to 1/2 gpm flow.
The hydrascan flow sensor has a stainless steel plate with two temperature sensors attached to the back of it. The sensor "B" in the diagram has a heater close to it. As long as the water flows at an adequate rate, the temperature sensors stay cool. When the flow rate drops below 1/2 gallon per minute, the lower flow allows the sensor to be heated by the heater, causing the "A" sensor to register a different temperature than the "B" sensor. This will shut down the pump to prevent damage to the pump. This will also protect the pump in the event that all the air is lost from your pressure tank. The hydrascan valve has a yellow button on it to prime or reset the pump. If low pressure is detected, there is a indicator light on the valve that will glow until the low pressure condition is corrected. If the pump looses prime, such as the cistern runs out of water, there will be no flow over the sensor plate and combined with the control system sensing that the system has lost pressure, triggers the pump to cut out. After correcting the water supply problem, you will need to manually reset the pump by powering off then back on, or by using the yellow reset button.

With city water systems, pressure must be reduced
to 30 psi maximum.

The manufacturer suggest that you have no more than 10' on the suction side of the pump. The 10' includes both suction lift from the cistern and the horizontal run from the cistern to the pump inlet. The best installation is to have the pump directly over the water source, since a longer horizontal distance can cause an air lock situation. The closer to the cistern you can put the pump, the better it will perform, since it is ideal for pushing the water, but is less than desirable for sucking the water. Also DO NOT use poly pipe on the pump suction, since the end fittings can cause a suction loss due to air leakage. The manufacturer says this pump is not recommended for shallow well installations.
